Keeping It Real MaMa
There’s no greater feeling than carrying a child and feeling the growth happening right inside your own body. It’s pretty amazing to think that something at one point is so small grows into this amazing little human being we will love forever. Motherhood is so precious and such a joy. From the moment you take the pregnancy test to hearing a heartbeat and seeing this little human swimming around in your belly.
My greatest joys of life come from the 7 beautiful children I have birthed and given the gift of life too. Parenting is definitely a full time job and one I wouldn’t change for the world. Even as a mother and a wife we need to also take time out for self care and still dating our partners. After all without our selves and our partners these little feet wouldn’t be running around.
What is self care:
Taking time out for yourself. While most importantly recharging your own battery. I admit I’m horrible at the self care part of life because I’m always running around with the kids between work, and home. Sometimes I don’t even sit until it’s time for bed. So what are some of the things we can do for self care you ask?
Spa Day With The Girls
Call the girls up and go to the spa. Get pampered for a day. As mothers we pamper everyone around us not because it’s our job as a parent but it’s more of a motherly instinct to always wanna take care of everyone around us.
What are the benefits of a spa treatment?
From the moment you step into the spa you can already feel the calm of the relaxing atmosphere and that’s the moment you say to yourself I’m doing this more often.
You get an exfoliating facial and massage that just relaxes your body and literally will help you feel relaxed. Every mother has tension in their body as were the ones to always have home and the responsibilities of running the household on our mind. Don’t feel guilty at taking time out for yourself. When you walk out that spa door you will feel like a whole new you and sometimes that’s just what we need to recharge.
Let’s admit! From the moment we give birth that’s when your whole life changes. Sometimes I wished I listened to everyone and took my naps while still pregnant and took advantage of some things you don’t get as a parent. This is when your hot meals come to an end. Babies and kids are literally set to know moms and dad are about to sit and attempt eating a hot meal.
As kids grow their not always ready to eat at the same time as you are. Or by the time you finish serving the kids they have already finished and their up and at it. Finally time to sit and eat in peace. Yea right that’s when the mom, dad and everything comes to their head to complain or talk about. Funny how this routine happens at bed time too right. Then their hungry, thirsty and have everything in the world to tell you.
Mommy Make Over
How much time do we actually get to do our hair in different ways? Or do our make? Our nails are chipping and falling apart. Time for a trip to the salon. Every mother wants to look like they haven’t aged a bit. Time for a mani, pedi and new hair do. Not only will you feel great but the husband will love the look.
Sip and Paint
If you like the taste of wine this is definitely one for you. If you never tasted wine this is a must try. I never really liked the taste of wine much but there’s so many different wines to try. Some are smooth, while others just have a hard alcohol taste I really don’t like.
A friend of mine got us tickets for my birthday one year and I have to say their wine selection is out of this world. I don’t recommend sipping to quickly if you want your painting to look like you haven’t dipped yet. This is a recommended way to just relax your mind and enjoy the peace and quiet while finding your inner talents you never knew you had.
Sure we can attempt all these things at home while taking care of home but then there’s no relaxation to it. When I’m home I can’t sit still I have to keep busy and always move around. Like I said the moment you attempt to do for yourself the kids are right there. With 4 girls in the house we have our girl nights on Friday or Saturday nights. We throw on a movie, soak our feet give each other pedicures and play in each other’s hair and that’s always fun to do with your daughters. After all my kids are my pride and joy but there is nothing wrong with taking a little time for yourself and clearing your mind. On Sundays we cook and get the guys ready for football and laugh it up in the kitchen. The fun part is when we’re all in the living room for football Sundays and the guys get loud as they all scream touchdown or yell as the other team scores that their going against.
There’s no greater gift in life than our families and the time we spend together but always remember to make time for yourself to clear your mind and recharge yourself. I’d love to hear your self care stories, leave a comment on how you take time for yourself it can help others with new ideas too. Until next time. Remain safe and fabulous.
