Keeping It Real MaMa
I can't even begin to think where to start on what I both think and feel about this entire pandemic of the COVID-19 outbreak. This has really put a major hate line with parent's and just people in general. There's so much controversy over different beliefs and feelings everyone has. Is this mask safe or is this vaccine the right one? These questions come upon and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but lately this seems to be more and more contraversal and putting a wedge between people more and more.
When the COVID-19 viruse first began to spread there were so many questions left unanswered because nobody really knew what the virus was , the cause , or how to contain this deadly virus. The disagreements began on whether or not to shut down the economy. Businesses were closing and with a mask mandate in place every one had their own opinion on what was going on. I would literally just sit and watch news briefings and seeing the comments written was kind of interesting and entertaining.
Some were commenting that by the WHO (WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION) suggesting to wear masks that this was the way for the government to control us. With so many agaisnt the mask mandate I have to say buying masks were a huge struggle. Hand sanitizer was harder to find and buy, bleach was off the shelves as well as lysol.
Truthfully with the craziness and speed of how this virus was spreading life changed in ways I don't think any one was ever really ready for or ready to face reality on. The more the virus spread the more our hospitals filled up with our elderly generation. Thankfull at this time the children werent being affected.
Unfortunately the spread became worse and worse as the days went by. Schools were being closed and students were now on virtual learning, businesses were closing doors and sendwing workers home to work remotely. The way of life was changing in the blink of an eye and you would never have guessed that something such as a virus would turn life upside down so quickly. The ceonomy was falling and nothing seemed it would ever be the same.
Out of nowhere now we have not one but two vaccines that were now being administered to protect your from the worse of the symptoms to this deadly virus. Neither vaccine protects your from the virus but is said to lessen your chances and symptoms. Is this vaccine really working though? Seems not to be. Vaccinated individuals are still being hospitalized and dying.
Here we are over a year later and the more people were being vaccinated the more people became to comfortable with opening back up to freedom again. The horrid of the truth is this still wasnt over. Schools were opened back up for the next school year and things were going back to normal but it was too soon. Another virus and another just becoming worse. Business in most places and schools all going back to the way before the virus began and now with a new virus now kids are being affected by this virus. So whats the controversy?
With the new virus on the rise confusion is back on the rise. Parents are being upset and more and more I see parents arguing back and forth about kids wearing masks in school. Many parent's are against believing that students should go back to virtual or that students should be wearing a mask all day long. The ongoing argument is that parents feel this is abuse to children. Ive never seen so much controversy over protecting our children.
As a mother I have to say im not against students needing to wear a mask especially when we have a virus spreading so badly and quickly taking the lives of children. I'm all for the virtual school and keeping our children safe. I understand some parents may need the whole in school brick and mortar schooling so they can work and provide as this virus took a toll on our economy for many. The lives of our children can't be replaced and with this virus on the rise we need to protect them to the best of our ability. I definitely took the route of homeschooling my kids.
As a parent with children with asthma and a son who was once pronounced deceased due to a febril seizure this really is not a choice as I would never risk any of my kids. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on how they decide and this shouldn't become a community argument. This should be a concern to all.
If you have decided to send your kids back, talk to them about the importance of washing hands and sanitizing. Our younger children aren't as sanitary as we can train our older children and the concern of younger children or all children in fact should be that there is no janitors cleaning the bathrrom after each child touches it or when our students are in lucnh they have to punch in their lunch numbers on a pin pad for their food. These things aren't being wiped down after each kid.
Without even thinking about it someone wipes their eye or itches their nose. So whether your against or with the decisions of others. Your opinion may be against someone elses and if your against the masks and vaccines instead of being rude or downing another parent for believing in protecting their own at all cost ask yourself what would you really do if you had a child/children with underlining health conditions. Others may be lucky to have children without any risk factors and others parents have to think about their childrens health. Be curoeous and thoughtful to others around you for the protection of everyone.
