The beat of your heart is something different when you notice the skip of your first menstrual cycle. Your heart stops and the first question in your mind is am I gonna be a mother? You get the feel of nervousness and a million questions run through your mind, including what kind of parent will I be? All of this is absolutely normal. Now that you have completely worked yourself up take a breath and get yourself together.
Although being a first time parent can seem a bit scary giving life to one of your own is the greatest blessing you will ever feel. There's so many changes that come along with having a baby and a lot to prepare. First thing's first let's get to the store and confirm with a test.
Now that you have confirmed a positive pregnancy test get to making that first doctor's appointment.
When going to your first appointment you will need to remember the last date of your period. This will help determine your bundle of joys due date. If your periods are irregular its a good idea to keep track of your period in a notebook , on a calendar or on your phone calendar.
I remember my first appointment I was full of excitement , also worried at the same time. I probably even drove the Doctor crazy. I had a million in one questions being a first time parent. The Dr. suggested a book to me and as soon as I left her off I went to hunt down this book. Now that I have this book in hand I couldn't put it down. Another tip you might wanna remember is if there's any questions you may have jot them down every pregnancy gave me memory loss and I could never remember everything I wanted to ask my Dr. I will list the book below.
In some cases your Dr. may give you a prescription or recommendation for your prenatal vitamins. These vitamins are extremely important during and even after your pregnancy if you plan on breastfeeding the baby. ( Highly Recommended ) During my pregnancies most vitamins made me sick and knowing they were important for my babies growth I kept consulting my Dr. trying to find the right vitamin to keep my baby supplemented.
Parenthood is so exciting and the experience is absolutely amazing. There's still so much to do before the little bundle of joy comes home. My favorite is setting up the nursery. Until I know the sex of the baby I don't paint or decorate. Usually right after the baby shower is when I really get cracking.
